II. KNOW THE DATES

GENERAL

  • November 8, 2022

Voter Registration Deadline

  • October 11 - November 5, 2022 - New Mexico offers same-day voter registration during early voting, and on November 8, 2022 (Election Day) at some early voting sites and county clerks’ offices.
  • October 11, 2022 - Deadline to register to vote online and in person.
  • October 14, 2022 - Deadline to receive voter registration by mail (must be postmarked by October 11, 2022)

Absentee Ballots

Ballot Request Deadlines:

  • November 3, 2022 at 5 p.m. - Deadline to return no-excuse absentee ballot applications by mail, in person, or online.

Ballot Return Deadlines:

  • November 8, 2022 at 7 p.m. - Deadline to return completed ballots by mail or in person.
  • State officials recommend mailing your ballot by November 1, 2022 to avoid postal delays. If you do not receive an absentee ballot, you must contact your County Clerk’s office no later than November 4, 2022. 

Registered voters in New Mexico who want to vote by absentee ballot this fall should submit an absentee ballot application online or to their local county clerk as early as possible.

Voter ID Laws:

  • New Mexico does not require an ID to vote, except for certain first-time voters.

Accepted Credentials:

Don't have a valid ID?

  • Once you have registered to vote, no further voter ID is required to vote in New Mexico, except for some first time voters.
